Security & Safety

“Does real security come from a bigger wall or a better lock on your door, or does it come from knowing your neighbors and trusting them?”

— Marcus Paʻaluhi, Board Member from Waiʻanae

Marcus Paʻaluhi says, “I’ve had truck broken into when I take it to job sites in Mililani or Kahala. But if I park it at the Harbor, I know no one will touch it.”

Puʻuhonua O Waiʻanae is a safe place for people, their kids, and their belongings. It is safe because people take care of each other.

That’s not to say there is never any crime or problems, but many people feel safer in Puʻuhonua O Waiʻanae than in a shelter or the house they came from.
